Founded in 1985 and based out of the greater Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota area, the Great Northern Union (GNU) is a men's chorus of 75 voices dedicated to bringing high impact harmony to our audiences through energetic performances, appealing collaborations, and entertaining concerts.
2009 marks the 23rd anniversary of the Great Northern Union and will feature Guest Artists; the St. John's University Men's Chorus, Minneapolis Commodores, The Singers, and Crossroads. There is no better place to experience high impact harmony.
GNU's Mission:
The Great Northern Union is a premier a cappella male chorus in the upper Midwest region dedicated to the performance, education, promotion, encouragement and preservation of high quality vocal music, primarily in the barbershop style.

Overtone Series - Giving Program
Our operating costs are barely met by our basic revenue generation sources of ticket and CD sales. Central to our success is to match our unrivaled musical and artistic resources with adequate financial resources.
Growth to our basic operating budget is key to our long-term success. Your generous contribution will enable us to improve our world class Concert Series, continue our nationally recognized youth outreach program, improve our online web presence to better serve our fans and community, commission or acquire new arrangements, improve our quartet and chorus coaching, and initiate new membership marketing efforts.
